Safe, Reliable Power Starts at the Panel

Your electrical panel does more than turn circuits on and off. It acts as the control center for your home’s power, routing electricity where it needs to go and shutting circuits down when unsafe conditions occur.

When a panel is outdated or undersized, the problems can show up in different ways:

Breakers trip more often
💡
Lights flicker during appliance use
🔌
Outlets stop working
🧯
Circuits feel overloaded
🛠️
New equipment cannot be added safely
At HomeOps, we evaluate your current panel honestly and recommend only the service you actually need — whether that means a repair, a full installation, or an upgrade to support modern electrical demand.

Which Panel Service Do You Need?

If your current electrical panel cannot safely support your home’s power needs, a panel upgrade may be the right solution. This is especially common in older homes with 100 amp service or growing electrical demand from new appliances, EV chargers, or generators.

If you’re building, renovating, replacing an aging system, or adding a new electrical service, a full panel installation may be required. We install code-compliant panels designed for long-term performance and safety.

Not every panel problem requires a full replacement. In some cases, breaker issues, loose connections, or isolated component failures can be repaired safely and efficiently.

Our Electrical Panel Process

1

Panel Evaluation

We inspect your current electrical panel, breakers, wiring connections, and overall electrical capacity to understand the condition of your system.

2

Problem Identification

We determine whether the issue is related to panel age, damaged components, electrical load demand, breaker failure, or other system limitations.

3

Honest Recommendation

If a repair solves the issue, we’ll recommend it. If a full panel installation or upgrade is the safer long-term solution, we’ll explain the options clearly.

4

Code-Compliant Service

All electrical panel work is completed safely and according to current electrical codes by licensed electricians.

5

Testing and Verification

After the work is complete, we test the system to confirm your electrical panel and circuits are operating safely and reliably.

Great experience with HomesOps Electric. Craig came out late at night after PSEG accidentally cut half the power to our house with a shovel, and he couldn’t have been more helpful. He took the time to clearly explain what was going on, made sure everything was safe, and helped us understand next steps.
What really stood out was that he came back the next day to follow up and get more information from PSEG so we had a full picture of what happened. That level of care and follow-through is rare.

Would absolutely use them again and highly recommend.
Response from the owner:Thank you for taking the time to share your experience, Ryan. We're glad to hear that Craig provided exceptional service and support during such a stressful situation. Our team always aims to ensure safety and clear communication, so it's great to know that it made a difference for you. We appreciate your recommendation and look forward to assisting you again in the future!

I was very pleased with the work that Jacob, and Nicholas completed. They were responding to a request to help dealing with the 9 volt battery type of hard wired smoke detector. Jacob is a well informed technician and precise teacher regarding codes and different types of detectors.
Both technicians were polite and professional.
The billing department is another story. The software they use does not provide a breakdown of materials and labor costs.
I had an issue with the receipt. My final payment was incorrect. Craig was very helpful in addressing the problem.
Response from the owner:Thank you for your feedback, Joanne. It's great to hear that you were pleased with the work Jacob and Nicholas completed, and that their professionalism and knowledge made a positive impression. We appreciate your comments about the billing department as well. We're always looking to improve our processes and your input is invaluable. If you have any further questions or concerns, please don't hesitate to reach out.
Project done quickly and efficiently; everything is explained in detail. Staff is courteous and professional. Very pleased with the outcome. Highly recommend.
Response from the owner:Thank you for your positive feedback! We're glad to hear that you were pleased with the efficiency and professionalism of our team. Your recommendation means a lot to us!

Signs You May Need Electrical Panel Service

If your electrical panel is struggling to keep up with your home’s power demand, warning signs often appear throughout the house. These symptoms may indicate that your panel needs inspection, repair, or an upgrade.

Frequent breaker trips
Flickering or dimming lights
Buzzing sounds near the panel
Warm breakers or panel face
Burning smell near electrical components
Partial power loss in parts of the home
Limited space for new circuits
Difficulty supporting modern appliances
Older 100 amp service
Plans to add an EV charger or generator

Ignoring panel issues can lead to more than inconvenience. In some cases, these warning signs point to overheating, unsafe wiring conditions, or an electrical system that no longer meets the needs of your home.

⚡ A Smarter Hub for Modern Electrical Needs

Many homeowners first discover electrical panel issues while trying to improve other parts of their home. As electrical demand grows, the panel often becomes the first place where limitations appear.

🔌Installing an EV charger
🔋Adding a standby generator
❄️Replacing an HVAC system
🍳Renovating a kitchen
🏠Finishing a basement
⚙️Adding new circuits for appliances or office equipment

That’s why panel service is often the starting point for broader electrical improvements. A strong, code-compliant electrical panel ensures your home can safely support modern appliances, new technology, and future upgrades.

Electrical Panel FAQ

Here are some of the most common questions homeowners ask about electrical panel upgrades, repairs, installations, and overall panel safety.

What does an electrical panel do?
Your electrical panel is the main control center for your home’s power. It distributes electricity to individual circuits, protects those circuits from overload, and helps shut power off when unsafe conditions occur.
How do I know if my electrical panel is outdated?
Common signs of an outdated electrical panel include frequent breaker trips, flickering lights, warm breakers, buzzing sounds, limited circuit space, and difficulty supporting modern appliances. Older 100 amp panels may also struggle to handle today’s electrical demand.
Should I repair, replace, or upgrade my electrical panel?
It depends on the condition of the panel and the issue you are experiencing. In some cases, a repair is enough. In others, a full panel replacement or upgrade is the safer and smarter long-term solution, especially if your panel is outdated or undersized.
Do I need an electrical panel upgrade for an EV charger?
Not always, but many homes do require a panel evaluation before adding an EV charger. If your existing panel does not have enough capacity or space for a dedicated circuit, a panel upgrade may be necessary to support safe EV charger installation.
Can I install a standby generator with my current panel?
In many cases, yes, but it depends on the age, condition, and capacity of your current electrical panel. Some homes require panel modifications or upgrades before a standby generator can be installed safely and to code.
Is 100 amp service enough for a modern home?
In some smaller homes, 100 amp service may still be enough. However, many modern homes need more capacity to support HVAC systems, kitchen appliances, home offices, EV chargers, generators, and other high-demand electrical equipment.
How long does electrical panel work take?
Timing depends on the type of panel service needed. Some repairs can be completed relatively quickly, while full panel installations or upgrades may take longer depending on the scope of work, permitting, and coordination with utility requirements.
Are electrical panel issues dangerous?
Yes, they can be. Warning signs like burning smells, buzzing sounds, hot breakers, partial power loss, or repeated tripping may indicate overheating, loose wiring, or unsafe electrical conditions. These issues should be inspected by a licensed electrician as soon as possible.
