I have used Home Ops and Craig Fazio numerous times and they’ve always been top notch .. Had Jacob as a technician today and he was awesome .. Super nice .. super polite and very professional at what he does .. My job was completed as promised and it was a pleasure dealing with this great company.. I highly recommend them
Craig is a wonderful person. He went above and beyond to accomodate my family during the repairs and power outage we had at home. From the beginning till the end, Craig did everything he could to get our service back on time, he even stayed very late to finish the job. Thank you!

Craig spent a lot of time on the phone with us trying to help us fix a problem with our generator. When we couldn't resolve it over the phone he then drove 45 minutes to our home on a Sunday evening and resolved the problem for a very reasonable price. He is truly a pleasure to deal with, and I HIGHLY recommend this company!!!

Whole Home Rewiring FAQ

Here are answers to common questions homeowners ask about whole home rewiring, including warning signs, project timelines, safety concerns, and when rewiring may be the right solution.

What is whole home rewiring?
Whole home rewiring is the process of replacing old, damaged, or outdated electrical wiring throughout a house. This may include updating branch wiring, outlets, switches, grounding, and other electrical components to improve safety, reliability, and capacity for modern electrical demand.
How do I know if my house needs rewiring?
Common signs include frequent breaker trips, flickering lights, buzzing outlets, burning smells, outdated wiring, ungrounded outlets, and difficulty supporting modern appliances. Older homes with original wiring or fuse boxes may also need rewiring for safety and performance.
Is whole home rewiring worth it?
In many homes, yes. Whole home rewiring can improve electrical safety, reduce the risk of wiring failures, support modern appliances and technology, and make future upgrades easier. It can also be an important improvement when renovating an older home or correcting unsafe electrical conditions.
How long does whole home rewiring take?
The timeline depends on the size of the home, accessibility of the existing wiring, and the scope of work. Some projects move faster than others, especially if walls are already open during a renovation. After evaluating the home, an electrician can provide a more accurate timeline.
Can you rewire a house without tearing out all the walls?
In many cases, yes. Electricians often use methods that reduce wall damage as much as possible. However, some access openings may still be needed depending on the layout of the home, the existing wiring paths, and how much of the electrical system is being replaced.
Does whole home rewiring include outlets and switches?
It often can. Many whole home rewiring projects include updating outlets, switches, grounding, and other electrical devices so the system works safely and consistently from panel to endpoint. The exact scope depends on the home and project goals.
Is old wiring dangerous?
It can be. Older wiring may become brittle, damaged, ungrounded, or unable to safely support today’s electrical demand. In some homes, outdated wiring increases the risk of overheating, electrical faults, and unreliable power distribution.
Do I need an electrical panel upgrade with rewiring?
Sometimes. If the home still has an older or undersized electrical panel, a panel upgrade may be recommended as part of the rewiring project. This helps ensure the updated wiring system has the electrical capacity and protection needed for modern use.

Average Whole-Home Rewiring Cost

Whole-home rewiring costs in Long Island depend on the size of the home, accessibility of existing wiring, and the scope of the project. Below is a general estimate homeowners can expect for full rewiring projects.

Whole-Home Rewiring
$12 – $37 per square foot
Final pricing depends on factors such as wall access, electrical panel upgrades, permit requirements, and the condition of existing wiring. A professional evaluation ensures your home is rewired safely and up to current electrical standards.
